[L.] An arachnidan somewhat like a lobster, having a poisonous sting in its tail. It has a flattened body, and a long, slender lower abdomen, formed of six movable segments, the last of which ends in its sting. Its poison causes pain, but is seldom destructive of life. Scorpions are found in warm climates.
