The center of area of the United States, excluding Alaska, is in Northern Kansas, in approximate latitude 39° 55', and approximate longitude 98° 50'. The center of population is in latitude 39° ll' 56", and longitude 85° 32/ 53", being about three-fourths of a degree south and more than seventeen degrees east of the center of area. The following table shows the movement of the center of population since 1790.
