The mailing of a letter containing obscene or indecent matter is within the statute whether the letter is sealed or not, although the envelope may not have on it anything obscene.32 But although a letter may be sent through the mail for immoral or obscene purposes, yet such letter is not the basis of a criminal prosecution unless it actually contains obscene language.33
