Several separate and distinct offenses may be joined in the same indictment in different counts where they are all misdemeanors of like kind or character against the same person, such, for instance, as several distinct, unlawful sales of intoxicating liquors.31 It has always been recognized as proper practice to unite cognate offenses in the same indictment when they are misdemeanors.32
