This is a very beautiful species; it is often brought here, and is about the size of the African. It is docile and tractable, and may be taught to articulate words and sentences very distinctly.

The front and round the bill of this bird is bright red, the sides of the head are a fine deep blue, the crown a bright yellow, the shoulders, pretty far down on the wings, are red, the wing feathers are edged with yellow, the main, or longest, a deep blue. The tail feathers are finely marked with deep blue, yellow, and red.

Food

Meal and milk, a bit of apple, a few cracked nuts, occasionally, of which they are very fond.
