I regret very much to be obliged to describe this fancier as "the late." His death in March, 1901, came as a great shock to many of his friends at the early age of forty-nine. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember what an ardent fancier he was, chiefly confining himself to Pomeranians, of which he had some excellent specimens. Probably the best known were Twigge of Frisinghall, Park Masher, Park Swell, Emerald, and Brilliant, the latter of whom, one of the best headed dogs of the breed ever seen, and carrying a grand coat, is shown in the photograph sent me for the purposes of this work some time before his owner's death.

Mr. Duckworth took an active interest in affairs at Accrington, where he was in business, and was a member of the Town Council there. He had not much leisure for attending shows very often, but enjoyed the friendship of a great number of persons amongst Doggy People, and never seemed happier than when he found himself in their company.
