Failure to take an inventory,1 or to make proof of loss,2 or to have appraisers make a finding as to the amount of the loss,3 as required by the terms of the policy as a condition precedent to recovery defeats recovery thereon. A contract of insurance in a fraternal association may require the insured to exhaust the remedies afforded by the tribunals of the association before resorting to litigation.4
