In this game, you try to make the player opposite jump all your checkers, because the object of the game is to give away all your men. Every time he jumps, the player has to take the checker he jumps. Of course he will be trying to make you jump his men too, and you must try to keep out of his way.

Line up the checkers on both sides of the board-as shown in the picture. Each player takes turns moving a checker. Always move them forward diagonally, from one dark square to the next. When your men reach the outside line of the opposite side, they are made kings. (To show it is a king, put another checker on top of it.) Kings can move back or forward-but always diagonally. When you jump a man you are given an extra turn. The first one to lose all his men, wins the game.

Games To Play On A CheckerboardLine up the checkers on both sides

Racing with checkers can be played by any number of people. With this game, use dice or a spinner to find how many moves to make. Each player uses only one checker, and takes his turn moving the checker up one line, and down the next-until he has gone all over the checker board. Of course the first one to finish wins the game.

If you have no checkers, use buttons, beads, or poker chips for the men.

Stunts To Try With Someone

Two people sit back to back on the floor, and lock their arms together. Holding this position, try to stand up.

Two people sit on the floor, with knees straight, and the soles of their feet touching one another. They join hands, and try to pull one another up-without bending their knees.

Two people sit backwo people sit on the floor

Two people stand facing one another, with their feet together, and their right arms stretched in front of them. They should be just far enough apart to be able to rest the two palms together. Now with their left hands behind their backs, they must see if they can unbalance one another enough to make one of them move a foot.-Pushing must be done only with the two right hands.

Two people stand facing one another

One person lies on his back on the floor, with a penny balanced on his nose. He must not move his head, but move the penny by just wiggling his nose and mouth. (This is fun to watch.)

Hiding Games

Tap on the back. This game can be played with any number of people. The one who is "It" turns his back to the group, and shuts his eyes. Someone quickly taps him on his back. He turns around and tries to guess who did it. When he names the one he thinks is guilty, that person answers, "How far shall I go?" He is told some spot where he must go. If he was the tapper, he has to go there; but if someone else did the tapping, the one who is "It" has to go there himself.-While he is gone, the rest of the group hide from him. He must come back to the starting point, and then hunt up all the other players. If he finds, or sees a player, he tries to tag the starting post before that player does. The first player found, who does not touch the starting post before the one who is "It" does, has to be "IT" next.

Sardines. In this game of hide, the one who is "It" is the only one who hides. The rest of the group hunt for him. As he is found, each player squeezes into hiding with him. The last one to find the hiding place is the next player to be "It."
