Have you ever played on a comb? All you have to do is cover the teeth of your comb with a layer of tissue paper. Put your lips against the paper on the teeth of the comb, and hum a tune. It will make a musical sound, and be a lot of fun. Do not blow on the paper as that will wet it, just hum with both lips against the side of the comb.

Fill a glass with water and tap it lightly with a silver knife. You will find it makes a musical sound. Now, pour out some of the water, and tap it again. It will make a musical sound, but at a different pitch. With a little experimenting you can line up eight glasses of water and play the scale on them. Each one will have a different amount of water in it. After you have the scale adjusted on them, you can play tunes. Try it.

Trace the heads, feet, and tails of these animals. Then put them on the right bodies. Can you do it?
If you would like to do a new kind of drawing, try this. Mix together
2 teaspoons of salt 1 teaspoon of starch 1 teaspoon water
Be sure this is stirred until all the lumps are gone. Take a toothpick for a drawing stick, and make a picture with the paste-using it just as you would frosting on a cake. Spread it on your paper to draw pictures, and then let it dry. It will take an hour or so to dry thoroughly, and longer if you do not put it in the sun or on a radiator.
When the picture is dry, color it with your water color paints. You will find a raised picture so the figures stand out. When you are going to use two colors, be sure the first is dry before you start with the second.
In doing houses, fill in the whole outline, leaving spaces for the doors and windows. Flowers are also fun to do this way. They will look as if you had pressed a real flower on the paper.
You can make a good snow scene on dark colored paper-black or blue-by using this paste to make bouses, trees, a snowman or perhaps a fence. Of course when it is used to represent snow, you do not have to color it.
Use this kind of drawing to make Christmas cards-or place cards, and you will have something different.

If you have pieces of black and dark blue paper, you can make a picture of a night scene-with stars that twinkle, and lights shining from windows or street lights.
Draw straight lines along the top edge of the black paper-to look like the roofs of houses. Then draw a few tiny windows. Cut on the drawn lines, and hold your paper up to the light to see if it looks like houses at night.
Paste the top of this black paper to the bottom of the dark blue paper. If the windows are covered, cut them out again. Hold it to the light to see if the windows still shine.
With a pin, prick through the blue paper-scattering the pricks all over the paper.
Now hold your picture to the light and see if it looks like houses with stars shining above them. Add more stars if you want, and a moon might be nice too.
When your picture is done, pin it in a window where the sun will shine through the holes, then the lights in your houses and the stars will twinkle.

When you pick your pussy willows save one stick of them so you can make some pussy pictures. All you will need is some paste, and a crayon. Draw a fence with your crayon, and break off some pussy buds to paste on the top of the fence. If you draw in your own ears, tails, and whiskers, they will look like real pussy cats; and if you rub your finger over them, you will feel their soft fur.
