One of the best backings for plain or blended grounds on glass is made by grinding the colour in nut oil; bind with sugar of lead; thin with benzoline. This will stand the heat or frost without cracking. A good background for fascias well protected is made by grinding the colour in milk; this is applied as distemper, stippled; a very pure colour is produced by this method.
