Take the loose brasswork to pieces and boil off the old lacquer in a hot solution of carbonate of soda and water - 1 lb. of carbonate to 1 gal. of water; then swill the parts in clean water. Repolish with strips of flannel " list," to which is applied a mixture of lime and oil. Then clean off with dry lime, and relacquer with a camel-hair brush. The work should be held in some way, preferably in a vice.
