A plant much cultivated, particularly in Essex, for its seed, which is greatly esteemed for its agreeable flavour, pungent warmth, and medicinal properties. By distillation it affords an odoriferous essential oil, which is much used in white soap, and therewith constitutes the article termed Windsor soap.
