These machines are profitably employed in foundries which make a great number of small duplicate castings. They are designed and built to repeat certain motions and operations which occur in the work of moulding all small castings. Each machine is operated by a workman who directs the machine and who performs those steps in the work which the machine cannot perform.

There are two types of moulding machines, known as the vibrator, and the squeezer.

Snap flasks of special design and uniform sizes are used with these machines.

Moulding machines do not require skilled labor to operate them, and many small patterns may be moulded in a single flask.
