A good boot and shoe scraper for a step can be made of a worn-out and discarded broom. Cut off the straws and strings as shown in the sketch, al-lowing one string to hold them together, and make the notch the width of the shoe. Tie the extending ends together, and mount the whole on a suitable block, or, if desired, a hole can be bored in the step to receive the handle, and the scraper thus securely attached. This makes an effective scraper for the bottom as well as the sides of shoes of almost any size. - Contributed by Jno. V. Loeffler, Evansville, Ind.
