A good sweeping compound may be made as follows: Mix 1/2 pt. of warm paraffin oil with 2 oz. of melted paraffin wax and add 2 oz. of artificial oil of sassafras. Then pour the mixture into 10 lb. of sawdust and work the whole thoroughly together. Add to this mixture i lb. of clean sand and 1/2 lb. of coarse salt. Each article mentioned is comparatively cheap, and the compound can be kept in an open container. - Contributed by Loren Ward, Des Moines, Iowa.
