One price following the name of a stock signifies a sale of 100 shares at that price, thus: ST. 145.

When more or less than 100 shares are sold, the number of shares sold will precede the price, thus: ST. 200. 145. 10. 145.

An offer alone, without a bid, is preceded by an 0 and a dot, thus: ST. 0. 145. A sale and offer, thus: ST. 145. 0. 145.

A bid alone, without an offer, is followed by the letter B, thus: ST. 145. B.

A bid and offer are separated by by three dots, thus: 145. . .½.

When a sale is not recorded in its proper place the price will be preceded by the abreviation SLD., thus: ST. SLD. 145.

When the amount sold and the price are so nearly alike that they may be taken for two sales, the amount of the sale will be followed by the letter S and a dot, thus: ST. 145. S. 145, meaning St. Paul 145 shares at 146.

When the * is printed, it denotes that the quotation it follows is correct.

When an error has been made by the reporter, or in printing, the last letter or figure is repeated several times, indicating that the quotation is to be thrown out, thus: S T 145 ¼ ¼ ¼ ¼.

Three-day contracts in stocks which have been placed in the Clearing House will be printed thus: ST. 200. 145. 3.

Official Time Of The Stock Exchange

At fourteen minutes after two P.M.. the words Hammond's Time will be printed on the tape, and shortly after the lever of the instrument will give fifteen distinct beats.

At the end of the fifteen beats it is 2h. 15m. P.M., and the close of the recognized settlement time for transactions of the Exchange.
