Flowers, purple, bell-shape, 1 to 1 1/2 inches long, the tips of the sepals deeply curved backward. No petals.
Fruit, silky. Leaves, pinnate, mostly 3-divided, the leaflets often 3-parted. May to August.
A marsh species found in Virginia and southward.
