Family, Nettle. Staminate and pistillate flowers separate. No corolla. Calyx of 4 sepals, one or two of which are smaller than the others. One side of the stiguni hairy. Flowers clustered in cymose heads. Leaves, 5 or 6 inches long, ovate, pointed, long-petioled, feather-veined, with one 2-cleft stipule at base. July to September.
A plant with stinging hairs, 2 or 3 feet high. Pound in rich woods, northward and southward.
