It cannot be said that there is any great commercial importance at the present time to be attached to this partially extracted coffee. It is true that factories have been built, especially in Germany, and operate on a scale more or less large, and this extracted coffee is to be had upon the markets in many localities. It will require a number of years of experimental work and instruction on the part of the makers of this product, to bring it into as general use as that of the untreated coffee. At the present time (1918) importations from Germany are not possible and factories for making the decaffeinated product have been erected in the United States.
