One of the following agents may be used for the removal of mildew stains: 1. Soap and water, as in ordinary laundering. Very fresh stains can be washed out. Drying in the sun helps to bleach the spots.
2. Sour milk. Soak the stains overnight in sour milk and then place in the sun without rinsing. Repeat the treatment several times if necessary. Light stains can be removed in this way.
3. Lemon juice. Moisten the stains with lemon juice and allow them to remain in the sun. This is effective in removing slight stains.
4. Javelle water. Use this agent for bleaching old stains.
5. Potassium permanganate. Use this agent upon old and persistent stains.
