1 1/2 cups (6 ozs.) flour or Graham flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ozs.) shortening
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup (1 gill) water
1 tablespoon (1/2 oz.) sugar
Fresh or canned fruit
Sift flour once, then measure and sift again with salt and baking powder. Cut and rub in shortening, then add egg and water. Mix and turn into a small, well-greased pan, sprinkle over sugar, and steam one hour. Split open, fill, and cover with any kind of fresh or canned fruit.
