5 cups apple sauce

1 1/4 cups fat

3 1/2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg

1 2/3 tablespoons soda

1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon

2 quarts barley flour 1/2 cup corn syrup

3 cups raisins

Mix raisins with one-half cup extra flour. Mix and sift dry ingredients together. If sauce is unsweetened, add half a cup more sugar. Cream sugar and fat together; add syrup, apple sauce, and flour, then floured raisins. If sauce is very moist, another cup flour may be needed. Bake in shallow pans, in moderate oven, forty-five minutes, or until done.
