1 1/2 cups sugar 3/4 cup water 8 marshmallows 3 egg whites

1/4 cup shredded cocoanut 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 1/2 cups walnut meats Unsweetened wafers

Boil sugar and water until syrup threads. Remove to back of range, and add marshmallows cut in pieces. Add to stiff whites of eggs, beating all the time. Add cocoanut, vanilla, and coarsely cut nuts. Spread saltines or unsweetened wafers with mixture, and bake in moderate oven until delicately browned. Serve with coffee for dessert, or for afternoon tea.
