1 1/2 quarts corn meal 1 1/2 quarts buckwheat 2 tablespoons salt 1 2/3 tablespoons soda

1/2 cup shortening 2 cups molasses 1 1/2 quarts sour milk 1 cup water

3 tablespoons baking powder

Mix and sift dry ingredients; add milk, water, molasses, and shortening. Beat well. Bake in shallow pans in moderate oven thirty minutes, or until done.
