2 1/2 quarts dried bread in small pieces 4 1/2 quarts scalded milk I pint mild molasses 1 pint corn syrup

1 tablespoon salt 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon allspice 1 pint or more raisins

Any kind of bread or muffins that is not burned or very dark from baking may be used. Soak in milk until soft ; add remaining ingredients, mix well, and turn into shallow, oiled pans. Bake slowly an hour, or until knife comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream or a liquid sauce.
