1 package dates.
1 cup chopped nuts.
1 teaspoonful Royal Baking Powder.
1 cup flour 1 cup sugar.
3 eggs, well beaten.
Mix all together and bake in a moderate oven twenty to thirty minutes.

2 cups sugar 1/2 cup butter.
2 eggs.
3 cups flour.
1 teaspoon Royal Baking Powder.
1 1/4 cups dates.
1 1/3 cups boiling water.
1 teaspoon vanilla Pinch of salt.
2 teaspoons soda.
Cream butter, add sugar, then beaten eggs. Beat well and add vanilla, salt and flour. Sift soda over dates, which have been washed and seeded. Add boiling water and stir into mixture. Beat well, add baking powder and bake at once, either in two large layer tins or in twenty-four muffin tins. Layers may be put together with (1) lemon filling, (2) cream filling, (3) icing of any preferred kind. This cake is good for several days. Stale pieces may be steamed and served with soft sauce or whipped cream.

1 tablespoon butter.
1 egg.
1 cup boiling water.
1 1/3 cup flour 1 package dates 1/2 cup nuts 1 teaspoon soda.
Mix in the same way as the above, bake in a square pan. Serve with whipped cream.
