1/2 lb. Flour.
1/4 lb. Butter.
1/4 lb. Castor Sugar.
1 oz. Arrowroot (ground).
1 teaspoonful of Baking Powder.
A few drops of Vanilla Essence.
Pass the flour and arrowroot through a fine sieve on to a pastry board. Rub the butter well into these ingredients, the finer the better. Make a bay, place the sugar and baking powder into this, crack the eggs into it, mix well, make into a medium soft dough; roll out about 1/8 of an inch thick, cut into biscuit shapes, sprinkle with granulated sugar and bake in a hot oven until light brown. Store in air-tight tins.
