On the 17th of February 1879 a number of the principal gardeners in the neighbourhood of Liverpool and a few friends assembled at the Public Rooms, Aigburth, for the purpose of making a presentation to our contributor, Mr Hinds, on the occasion of his relinquishing his post as head-gardener to Sir T. E. Moss, Bart. The present was a handsome gold watch, with the inscription: "Presented' to Mr William Hinds by Gardeners and Friends of Liverpool, as a token of respect, on the occasion of his leaving the service of Sir T. E. Moss, Bart. Liverpool, February 17, 1879. The gift was in recognition of the sterling worth and gentlemanly demeanour of Mr Hinds, and the able manner in which he had represented Liverpool as a horiculturist.
