Mr. John Brooks, of whose death at Pittsburgh on the 6th of March, we have but just heard, was well known about Philadelphia a quarter of a century ago for his remarkable skill in growing the hot-house grape. When the present Senator Cameron built the fine ranges of glass on the family estate at Lochiel, at Harrisburg, Mr. Brooks was the first gardener to take charge of them, remaining in that situation about two years. Since that time he has resided in Pittsburgh. Mr. Brooks was a native of England, though many years a resident in this country.
