The leaves of Artanthe geniculata, Miq. (Piper genicula-tum, Sw.), a shrub known in Brazil as "false jaborandi", yields a small amount of light-green volatile oil with a spicy, somewhat mint-like odor, and a pungent, burning taste3!).
