The leaves of the North American Myrica asplenifolia, Endl. (Comptonia asplenifolia, Ait.), yields upon distillation 0,08 p. c. of a volatile oil. It has a strong spicy, cinnamon-like odor. Sp. gr. 0,926. When cooled in a freezing mixture the oil congeals1).
