From the stem bark of Cinnamomum Sintok, Blume5) there has been obtained by distillation a good yield of volatile oil, the odor of which reminds one of cloves and nutmeg; d27,5o1,008. After removal of 13 p.c. of eugenol (benzoyl compound) the remaining oil, which has an odor of nutmeg, boiled at 250°.

The oil of the root bark has an odor recalling more that of camphor.
