The Suprarenal Capsules are two small triangular bodies resting on the upper ends of the kidneys.

The right suprarenal capsule is in contact anteriorly with the vena cava and the liver; posteriorly it is in contact with the diaphragm, and its inferior surface rests on the anterior internal aspect of the upper end of the kidney. The peritoneum covers a very small portion of the anterior surface.

The left suprarenal capsule has a rounded apex, so is more semilunar than triangular. It is also placed lower down on the inner border of the left kidney instead of on the upper end. The greater part of the anterior surface is in contact with the stomach, and is covered with peritoneum; the lower remaining part is behind the pancreas. Posteriorly the left suprarenal-capsule is in contact with the left crus of the diaphragm and the inner border of the kidney.
