There is a group of lymphatic glands in the popliteal space, two or three at each side of the popliteal artery ; they receive the deep lymphatics from the leg, and the superficial set which accompanies the external saphenous vein.
The femoral group are in the thigh along the internal saphenous vein. The superficial vessels of the lower limb enter these, and pass through the saphenous opening to join the glands which lie along the femoral and external iliac arteries.
The inguinal glands—another group—lie across the top of the thigh on the line of Poupart's ligament, and receive vessels from the surface of the abdomen and buttocks.
