This affection occurs in the bones of the face, and sometimes, by extension, in the vertebrae, sternum, etc. The lesions somewhat resemble those of tuberculosis, the new-formed granulation tissue opening up the bone and leading to caries. The granulations, however, are more exuberant, and there is no caseous necrosis, but rather a tendency to suppuration.
