Daphne Indica. Nat. ord., Thymeleaceae.
Synonyms. - Daphne odora, D. Lagetto.

Sweet-scented Spurge-Laurel. For. names: German, Lorbeerblaiteriger Spitzenbast; French, Laureole de Chine.
Habitat. - The West Indies and China.
Part employed. - The bark of the branches.
Characters. - A moderately-sized branching shrub. Leaves alternate, ovato-cordate, glabrous. Flowers white, richly scented, in terminal bunches of 10 to 15, almost sessile flowers on a common peduncle, furnished with several bracts at its base.
Preparation. - Tincture, using rectified spirit.
