In these conditions, whether connected with chronic chest-disorder (not laryngeal phthisis) or with overexertion in talking or singing, I have frequently prescribed from 5 to 15 min. of liquor potassae with advantage; in fact this simple remedy, given every four hours for a few days, has quickly relieved and sometimes quite cured the symptoms.
1 Mr. Whymper has recently reported its good effects in relieving headache, and other symptoms induced by highly rarefied air, at an altitude, e.g., of 16,500 feet on Chimborazo; it was recommended to him by Dr. Marcet.
