Latin, Acidum Nitricum (Gen., Acidi Nitrici)
Eng., Nitric Acid. Synonym, Aqua Fortis. Formula, HNO3. An aqueous solution containing about 68 per cent. of absolute Nitric Acid.
Nitric acid is used as a caustic to remove warts and other small growths, and to cauterize ulcers, particularly chancre and chancroid.
