Eng., Paraldehyde.
A colorless liquid having a strong characteristic odor and a burning then cooling taste.
Average Dose.0 -30 minims (2 mils).

Eng., Elixir of Paraldehyde. Contains 25 per cent. of the drug.
2 fluidrachms (8 mils).
Hypnotic, sedative, antiseptic.
Employed in the treatment of alcoholic psychoses, dementia, hysteria, etc.
The odor and taste of paraldehyde are often considered decidedly objectionable both by patient and attendants.
Usually ordered as the Elixir alone, as in the following for the -treatment of alcoholic psychosis, hysteria, etc.:
