Eng., Zinc Phenolsulphonate. Synonym, Zinc Sulphocarbolate. Form.-Colorless prisms or crystals. Odor and Taste.-Odorless. An astringent, metallic taste. Solubility.-In 1.6 parts of water or 1.8 of alcohol. Average Dose.-2 grains (0.125 Gm.).

Therapeutic Action

Classed as intestinal antiseptic and astringent.

Uses

Sometimes used in the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery, typhoid fever, etc.

Administration

These are usually prescribed in capsules, sometimes in solution. Tablets of various sizes are on the market.
