Phthiriasis is the name given to a zooparasitic disease caused by an invasion of the skin by lice, of which there are three kinds: the Phthirius, or Pediculus capitis; the Phthir., or Ped. corporis; and the Phthir., or Ped. pubis. As the affections produced by these insects differ somewhat they will be described separately.
