For mumps no special diet is required, beyond the necessity of giving fluids or soft food while the swelling of the parotid glands and fever last. The suggestions for the dietetic treatment of tonsilitis apply to this disease. Anaemia is apt to be extreme during convalescence, and meat should therefore be plentifully supplied. Cod-liver oil is very appropriate in protracted convalescence.
