A Hop-pillow is sometimes used for sleeplessness. To prepare it, fill a small pillow-case with hops, which have been sprinkled with alcohol to bring out the active principle.
Tincture of Hops, dose a teaspoonful, is a mild hypnotic or sleep-producer. Tincture of lupulin (the active principle of hops) has more power of the same kind; but both are far weaker in this action than opium or chloral and their preparations.
