In this connection it may be worth while considering how the tubercle bacillus gets into the system. It may get in by the skin, by the stomach and by the lungs. It rarely gets in by the skin, probably most frequently by the lungs and some times by the stomach. Whatever way it gets in, it first goes into the lymphatic glands or is carried into the circulation to be distributed throughout the body. By reason of its getting into the lymphatic system, it may lie dormant in the body for a long time before it develops into a disease.
