Reticules and bags are now very popular, and any lady having a desire to possess one may make it without great expense. Satin is the favorite, but plush and other materials are quite as appropriate.
They should be made with draw-strings of satin, and should be embroidered or painted in some appropriate design. Peacock's feathers, violets, pansies, dog-wood, and primroses are favorite subjects. The inside should be lined with some stiff material. The handle may be made of twisted silk cord.
