Sulphide Of Zinc, is a white pigment of considerable body, sometimes used as a paint. On account of the sulphur it contains, it may exert a detrimental effect when mixed with some pigments.
Lithophone, which is sulphide of zinc in modified form, has replaced the pure sulphide as a paint pigment. It is composed of sulphate of barium, (barytes), containing about 30 per cent. of zinc sulphide. This is frequently used in place of zinc oxide and, for some purposes, is equally as good, having the same general properties and being cheaper.
