This is fun to whittle because the elephant is easy to make, and the round, heavy form will delight child and adult when completed. If pine wood is used, it can be colored light gray or finished with a transparent coating of varnish or shellac to show the wood grain.

Size of wood block for pattern, 1 1/2 inches thick, 3 1/2 inches high, and 4 inches long.
