Cinematograph Act 1909-1920, Part 2

Designed after constant consultation with the Fire Inspection Department, it is claimed that it covers all the provisions of the above Act, therefore may be used in a public hall without the use of an iron house whether admission is free or by payment.

Main Safety Features

(a) By means of the patent contact breaker, the film cannot be in movement when the door of the case is opened.

(b) ;Under no conditions is it possible for any of the doors to be open while the film is in movement.

(c) ;The light cannot be at full strength when the film is at rest.

(d) ;If the film were fired, by the patent channels through which the film enters the spool boxes no fire can reach the film in the boxes.

(e) ;When spool boxes with films are removed, all apertures are automatically closed, fire by any external cause being impossible.

General Description

Unique in design and equipment, embodying all features of the standard Professional Projector. The whole of the mechanism is built inside a Russian iron case fitted with carrying handles, measuring 2ft. 6in. long, 9in. wide, 1ft. 9in. deep, and weighing approximately 50 lbs., and is complete ready for use from the ordinary house electric supply. The special electric filament lamp combined with a unique optical system, in conjunction with the Aldis-Butcher guaranteed full aperture lens, give a brilliant picture 10ft. size at a distance of 60ft. A still picture can be projected and left in position for at least five minutes by means of a new electrical device, which puts the motor out of action and automatically reduces the power of the illuminant. The machine is fitted with a l/25th H.P. motor speed regulator.

Mechanism-Maltese Cross action, spiral gears, all necessary movements for masking and constant central position of light. Spool Boxes-Square pattern to hold lOin. spools (1,000ft.), constructed to allow the complete box to be removed without removing the film, fitted with safety traps. The top spool box allows the film to be threaded in direct alignment with the projector gate ; when not in position it packs securely into carrying case. Take-up is by chain movement working on spur wheels, thus obviating all risk of slipping, with eccentric bush for adjustment. Lamp House-Constructed to allow free ventilation in conjunction with the air shaft over the same. Illuminant-30-volt 31/2-amp. gas-filled lamp, with mirror. A brilliant 10ft. picture can be projected at a distance up to 60ft. Resistance- Of entirely now design fitted with heat shield cover. Optics-The newly - designed interchangeable Aldis-Butcher lens, guaranteed for perfect projection, with high quality piano convex condenser, fitted with rack and pinion focussing movement. Motor- 1 /25th h.p. fitted to the requirements of any voltage, with speed regulator. Electric Supply-: Internal wiring asbestos covered. Lead-in wire connected to ordinary house supply and to the main control Switch (fitted on case) by fork plug ; the switch on projector acts in full control. Projection of Stationary Film-A switch on the front panel controls the motor and illu-minant; when this switch is closed, the motor is put into action and the light is at its full ; on opening switch the circuit of motor is broken and the light is reduced, allowing film to remain stationary in gate for still projection or for threading of film, without risk of fire.

Warning :-Do not attempt to operate until you have carefully studied these instructions. Do not make your connections when the electrical supply is " on."
