In writing proper names, the consonant stems may be used for initials, except for C, Q and X, which may be indicated by the ordinary script letters, made very small, (lay should be used for both the whispered and vocal sounds of G. The vowels, when used for initials, are written as indicated below. It is unnecessary to place periods after initials, but it is well to underscore the whole name with a single straight line.
