1486. To Test the Purity of Oil of Rue. This oil is nearly always adulterated. When pure, it forms a clear solution with rectified spirit; Iodine dissolves in it slowly, without apparent reaction beyond a darkening and a slight increase in viscidity: It is unaffected by a solution of chromate of potassa; Nitric acid very slowly changes it into a greenish yellow liquid balsam.
